ABC News has reported that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is ordering several companies, mostly based in the United States, to stop advertising drugs that supposedly cure cancer. Some of the ingredients that these drugs include are shark cartilage, shiitake mushrooms, bloodroot and coral calcium, which are not approved by the FDA.

From reading this article, I initially thought that the FDA was doing the right thing for protecting the safety of the public. These drugs have not been tested to see if they are safe for consumption, and drugs with unapproved ingredients are prone to be contaminated with other chemicals. However, a comment on the ABC News site changed my thought on the issue.

The FDA is the biggest hypocritical agency of the U.S. Government. whom we now realize that we cannot trust. The FDA works together with the pharaceutical companies who charge 5 times more for drugs than Canadian pharmacies, for the same drug, and just as safe. The government confiscates these prescription drugs at customs. Instead of the FDA warning us against chemotherapy and its use in cancer, the FDA still allows it. Anyone I know who has died of cancer, had also been given chemotherapy, and they are dead. Isn't chemo then a quack medicine?
