U.S. Embassy attacked by mobs in Serbia PDF Print E-mail

Protesters attacked and stormed through one of the U.S embassy buildings, setting fire and destroying office equipments. Other western embassies were attacked as well. As of response, the State Department ordered non-essential diplomats to leave the country, while officials from the US criticized the Serbian government for the lack of security of embassy's assets. The Serbian government apologized for the riots. Tensions are growing in Serbia after Kosovo declared independence from Serbia. Many western countries are planning to recognize the independence, causing anti-west feelings among Serbians.
