After declaring victory, the International Community praised the victor Mahmoud Abbas as the new President of the Palestinians. President Bush also gave a warm welcome to the new President and gave invitation for Abbas to visit Washington. President Bush also pledged to help bring autonomy of the Palestinian state and combat terrorism in the region.
