The Senate Judiciary Committee approved the nomination Mukasey as the Attorney General. It is expected that the Senate would approve the nomination as President Bush asked Congress to expedite the nomination process. Many Democrats in the Judiciary Committee were troubled by Mukasey’s unclear response on the legality of water boarding, although Mukasey found the tactics repugnant. Senate Democrats Charles Schumer and Dianne Feinstein broke party lines and voted in favor of Mukasey’s nomination.
