Officials have reported that a gunman stormed a city hall in a suburb of St. Louis and killed five people, including two police officers, and wounded two others. The gunman is identified as Charles "Cookie" Thornton, who complained that city officials have harassed his business. A city attorney tried to fend off the gunman by throwing chairs. The major of the suburb Mike Swoboda was shot in the head, and he is now in critical condition. The police later shot Thornton dead. The town's schools are flying the American flag at half staff.
