New York State Governor Spitzer has announced his resignation after allegations of his involvement in a prostitute ring was revealed by The New York Times. He will be officially leaving the office next Monday. Lieutenant Governor David Paterson will take Spitzer's place, placing Paterson as the first black Governor in New York and the first legally blind Governor in the United States. Many have called for Spitzer's resignation, and the Republican legislature of New York threatened to impeach Spitzer. News Source
