The Tunisian government has asked INTERPOL to help arrest the former President and his family.

Citing theft and currency offences, the Tunisian government has asked the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) to capture the former President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali and his family for trial. Reuters reports that the former President fled to Saudi Arabia right after a nation-wide protest. The former President and his wife have been widely criticized for living a lavish life style at the expense of the country, which has high unemployment and widespread poverty.

While the government’s effort to arrest the former President is good news, many have demanded the government to release political prisoners, and the government has announced that all political prisoners will be released.

Nevertheless, some are continuing to demand resignation of several ministers due to the ministers’ ties with the former President.

It is my belief that through good writing that not only I can think beyond the headlines and abstract summary of articles but also my writings can open new avenues for further research and discussions.
