Due to severe economic times for the already poor class in India, some men have sold their wives to loan sharks to pay their debts. CNN International Sara Sidner has submitted an eye opening report.

In this circumstance, I refuse to impose my moral judgment against these desperate men, because the circumstance surrounding their decisions probably was so dire that all of reason and morality were forcibly pushed out of their consciences.

However, this does not mean we should forget the real victims in the story: wives, who were merely treated as commodity. They are forcibly separated with their families due to financial circumstances that they had no control over (I am assuming that men, not women, control all the finances – a likely fact). The dignity of humanity has been stripped in exchange for some financial security, and this type of behavior should not be tolerated in any part of the world.

I wish the Indian government pass some type of legislation that imposes hefty fines against these loan sharks for allowing such indecent financial transactions to occur. Unfortunately, this problem seems to be more wide spread than what it appears to be, especially various rural regions in India.

AFP is reporting that the current President of Madagascar, who was put into position by a military-sponsored coup, has fired the Prime Minister of the country, giving more uncertainty to Madagascar’s political future. There seems to be many talks between the opposition and the current ruling coalition, but the political trend seems to be signaling that there would not be any significant unified government any time soon. The uncertain political future of Madagascar is ...

Immediate Perspectives on the New War Strategy on Afghanistan

US News | Wednesday, 2 December 2009

Here is my full disclosure: I do not feel that I have read enough to know the full details of the new war strategy on Afghanistan. I will be attempting to read from original news sources on the matter, because many news organizations tend to fail at presenting such sensitive information without distortions. I would recommend others to read the President’s speeches and follow other news conferences by the government branches on the matter for ...
