Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from DS NETS! 2006 was a year full of hardship and success. I hope we can all look forward with a new year and new resolutions for 2007. I will be back to DS NETS starting tomorrow with new news abstracts. Again, Happy New Year!

Inside CNN

If you have a chance (or live in) Atlanta, Georgia, I highly recommend visiting the CNN center. I went on a tour that first took me eight stories up using a giant escalator. The tour lasts about an hour, and it takes you to the heart of CNN. I got to see the control room and many CNN employees working hard to cover the stories in Lebanon. The tour makes you realize how much "behind-the-scenes" takes place on each CNN program. The experience was rewarding, and I highly recommend others to visit CNN Center.

Rain and more rain

If you  didn't know, I live in western New York State and currently we are having a rough splash of rain fall right out side of my house. A thunder strike can be heard in every minute, and the rain pounding against the sky ceiling is really loud. Although my region is not heavily affected by flooding, other parts of New York State are. Rain and rain. Thunder and rain. Getting a little nervous here!

Sick - Food Poisoning!

It was a terrible three day ordeal. I think I ate something that was spoiled or something in that nature, but the effects of food poisoning was great enough to put me in bed for two days straight. I had a high fever and the nausea/vomiting episodes were terrible. I had almost had no sleep and the pain was pretty agonizing. Well, that explains why DS NETS hasn't been updated for a couple of days. I am planning to take another day off for rest before returning to my normal routine.

The Dove Self-Esteem Fund

As I was watching some Internet streaming videos, one advertisement caught my eye. The video (Click here) shows young girls with short messages that depict their low self-esteem of their own beauty. We live in a world full of Hollywood glamour and fashion beauty, and many of the girls define "beauty" as the looks from a supermodel found in magazines. Dove launched the "Dove Self-Esteem Fund" to help girls to realize the true beauty of themselves. It really amazes me the extent of this beauty obsession problem and that a beauty product company is taking charge to help out these girls. Check out the official site (Click here) for more details.
