It is being reported that the general public support for President Obama’s stimulus plan has dropped around 12 points since mid-early January. Analysts are saying however that the current poll numbers are to stay as it is unlikely people will change position on the issue.

What the polls do not show, however, is the public familiarity of the stimulus plan and the potential consequence. I am distinguishing this from the individuals’ ideological position of the legislation, because the core of what I call problem is that most citizens had virtually done nothing to research the stimulus proposal. Most people get the information through news outlets which at times can be resourceful but not when political commentators mingle in.

If there are people who claim to have researched the bill, I would question their claim, because there have been multiple versions of the bills in the past couple of days to which provisions had been added and deleted rapidly to the point that no one can claim that they have researched the bill as it stands now.
