Through understanding, grasping the sense of the world as we dance through the movement of history....
What an irony. The new TSA security protocols that include the full body scanners or the opt-out extensive body pat-down were developed as a response to the Christmas Day terrorist, who hid explosives in his underwear. Today, the TSA says that they would not change these policies, because they need to continuously be a step ahead of the terrorists for the sake of public safety.
So, these current policies were implemented after the underwear bomber, but the TSA’s justification for implementing these policies is to stay ahead? If that was the case, then why weren’t these security policies implemented prior to the Christmas Day bomber? I believe the TSA might be a step behind if we look at the history of events.
Granted, it could have been the case that the TSA might have planned these new procedures prior to the Christmas Day bomber, but nevertheless the implementation of these policies were done after the underwear bomber incident.
Looking at both President Obama and Secretary State Clinton’s response to public concerns on these new policies, I doubt any significant change would be made. I am predicting that the Republicans will use this issue for their own agenda to privatize the TSA, which in it of itself would not help the situation. (It might make the security situation worse)
While the recent polls suggest that most Americans support these new security protocols, a democratic opinion of facts does not dictate the truth value of them. I wished more people would stop and think what is going on with this aggressive airport security procedure than paying attention to the Dancing with the Stars.
