House passes non-binding resolution that criticizes President

The House of Representatives has passed a non-binding resolution that criticizes the President's plan for sending additional troops to Iraq. Only 17 Republicans broke ranks and voted with the Democrats, while 2 Democrats voted against the Resolution with the Republicans. Republicans have vehemently accused the Democrats for undermining the morals of the troops. But the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi argued back by stating that Congress owes the troops a course of action in Iraq that is worthy of their sacrifice.

Senator Obama announces his candidacy for Presidency

Senator Obama has announced his race for Presidency in front of the same building that President Lincoln made his "House Divided" speech that opposed slavery. Despite the cold weather, the Obama Campaign estimates over 15,000 supporters have attended the speech. Many Democratic supporters see Obama as a rock star for the Democratic Party. Senator Obama focused on President Lincoln in his speech. Many Democratic candidates are getting ready for the January 2008 Iowa caucuses.

Senator Biden joins the Presidential Race

Delaware Senator Biden announced that he has formed a Presidential Exploratory Committee. Senator Biden is currently the chairman for the Foreign Relations Committee. Marked by his expertise in foreign policy, the Senator has been a vocal critic against the Bush Administration on the War on Iraq. There were recent comments from the Senator, which he criticized other Democratic Presidential candidates. The Senator has since then down played those comments. This will be Senator Biden's second time of running for Presidency. In 1988 he sought to win the Democratic nomination, but he stepped down as allegations of speech plagiarisms arose.

Former Vice-President Al Gore nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Former Vice-President Al Gore was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. After losing the Presidential race in 2000, the former Vice-President poured his efforts to Global Warming. His movie "An Inconvenient Truth" generated huge popular awareness for the global climate change. The Vice-President made no commitments to join the 2008 Presidential race.

President Gerald R. Ford laid to rest

President Gerald R. Ford was laid to rest at the President's Library at Grand Rapids, Michigan, after the nation paid respects. President Ford made a controversial move of pardoning President Nixon of the Watergate scandal, which many historians now agree that it was necessary. President Ford died in California. After a small private funeral service, the body was flown to Washington where it received honors for the President's participation of World War II. After a memorial service at the National Cathedral, the body was flown to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where the public had one last time to pay respects. President Ford is the only unelected President and Vice-President of the United States.
